Cherokee Methodist Church Goes Over the Top
Early in the conference year Cherokee Methodist Church became a station with a $1000 pastor family budget. A canvass reduced the deficit to $33, then offerings filled the gap. Funds raised include 50 for Near East Relief, 45 for Orphanage at Waco, 33 for incidentals and repairs, 22 for supplies, 6.43 for Missions, and 6.60 by the Woman's Missionary Society. The pastor secured six new subscriptions to The Texas Christian Advocate. Parsonage improvements and a dormitory conveyance from Cherokee Junior College were noted, with sale or lease possible to suitable Methodist parties.

The image in last week’s news showing the double of Abraham Lincoln drew wide reader interest. W H Oglesby of Big Valley noted that Judge Charles B Bull, named in the photo, is actually Ed Bull a Mills County native and San Saba County neighbor. Ed Bull is now county judge at Reno, Nevada, who left for the West in 1913 and returned after marrying in 1917.
