Col ony News reports Sunday visits by Mr and Mrs Winston Millican and by Mrs Ida Holmes of Dallas plus Mr and Mrs Fred Myres and son of Killeen. Letha Blauvelt from Lampasas visited D C Blauvelt family, with Dr Charlotte May and Debbie from Dallas. FFA grass judging team led by L F Stewart attended Fat Stock Show and Rodeo in San Antonio. Will Kolb hospitalized briefly. others joined weekend travels to San Antonio for rodeo.
Weekend visitors included Mrs. T Lindsey and Eugene Lindsey from Brownwood to stay with the Fitzgeralds. Nelson Bates and sons from Rohy visited C. C. Fitzgeralds and Mrs. Bates remained as her husband works in Lockhart. Fort Worth resident Archie Dean Lindsey stays with Harkeys as husband joins the army. Walker store foundation begun and house progress reported. Algerita G A girls held a Valentine party for winning side with mothers as guests. The region mourns Sam Ethridge, husband of Joe Dyess’ niece.
A brief social note reports Shelly Lewis visiting his mother Mrs. Pauline Lewis and accompanying her to Temple to see her mother Mrs. Ada Shelly at Kings Daughters Hospital. Also mentioned are Mrs. E J Gibbons visiting from Albuquerque and plans to visit East Texas on return. Bill Sellman and family spent time with Mrs. Bessent, Mrs. Rolan, Mike, and other relatives over the weekend.
A. A. Raesener of Lone Star Gas says January heating demand rose 27 percent in San Saba compared with last year, based on U.S. Weather Bureau data. Heating days and degree days increased, with 16 days below freezing and more sleet. Gas rates remain the same across the Lone Star system, with a 3 cent rise per 1000 cubic feet last year to restore 1942 reductions.
Three drunks and two traffic violators were tried in Justice of Peace court last week, with fines totaling 79 dollars. Each of the three drunken defendants paid 14 dollars, another 14 dollars for failure to grant right of way, and a speeding case paid 23 dollars. Sunday guests included Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Benskin and Violet, who visited Mrs. A. D. Beckner and family.

Harkeys of Algerita visited Dorothy Moore, while Dove of Cresson and the Chadwicks, Ponton, Harrell and others attended a pink and blue shower in memory of Mrs Thelden Harrell. Several guests from Grencove and Sonora also feature in recent events.

Jones and Big Valley hosted a singing at the convention Sunday evening. L Cy Hess and Kid Roberds from Odessa visited Paul Roberds, who hosted Bart Tedder’s family at Brady Sunday.
