Funeral services for Mrs. Dick Miller 48 who died of a heart attack Sunday in Uvalde were held Monday at 2:30 PM from the Presbyterian Church in San Saba with Rev. Wm H Arnold officiating. A San Saba native born July 16 1899 she was the daughter of Mrs. R. W. Burleson and the late Mr. Burleson. Survivors include her husband a son Jack Miller of Austin her mother and sister Mrs W Hinyard of Cameron and numerous relatives. Pallbearers and flower committee members named from San Saba and nearby towns. Interment in City Cemetery.

Shelley Lewis was tried in justice court Friday for poisoning a dog on November 6 and found guilty. He was fined 310 dollars and costs. Pete Long 46 Funeral Held In High Valley Church
Pete Long 46 of Big Spring died Saturday after an 18 month illness in the Ausley Lackey home in the Chap bel community. Funeral services were held at High Valley Baptist Church with Rev. C. E. Lancaster officiating. Born March 10, 1898 in Greece, he owned a cafe until ill health forced retirement and belonged to the Greek Orthodox church. Survived by his widow Armour Brazil Long of Big Spring, formerly of San Saba county. Pallbearers included Ervin Keeney Julian Millican Ausley Lackey Otis Brazil Truett Gage of Chappel and Lee Brazil of Lomata. Floral arrangers were Mrs. Charles Broyles Maynard McCoury Cecil McCoury Truett Gage and Julian Millican. Interment at High Valley Cemetery. Howell-Doran Funeral Home in charge.

Frank A. Slope, a World War II veteran, received the second government insured loan in San Saba County since the FHA program began. He bought 2000 acres from Richland Springs and will improve buildings to standards. William Sowders Dies After Six Days Ill
Funeral services for William Alvah Sowders 78 were held Monday at the Church of Christ with KE Blake and Clem Hoot officiating. A longtime county resident, he died Saturday in a Goldthwaite hotel owned by his son after a six day illness. He leaves four daughters four sons a sister a brother nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Interment followed at San Saba Cemetery with W T Little Sons in charge.

Ross R. Wolfe 57 of Stephenville died after a long illness and was buried Monday. The San Saba Jaycees bought a 25 by 93 foot Gamp Bowie mess hall Monday for 1600 dollars, to be moved in two sections and converted into a community building near the Veterans School site. Land donor R B Bagley previously gave land for the Veterans School and Memorial Softball Park. The facility will host Jaycee activities and may be used by local clubs for a nominal fee, with free weeks for supervised teen social events. A committee led by Bud Everett, Red Williams, and Slim Gobern arranged the deal, costing 975 dollars for moving and planning remodels. The Jaycees aim to add two retreat rooms, sand and polish floors, blinds, rugs, lamps, and new seating during remodeling.
