Not Guilty Verdict in Hall Postoffice Burglary Case
Clarence McCurdy of Hall County was acquitted in federal court in Austin last week after being charged with breaking into the Hall Postoffice last summer. He testified he entered in daylight, knocked for the Postmaster, and a trap gun triggered, wounding his hand as the bullet passed through. Hon. G A Walters led McCurdy’s defense to favorable reviews from local lawyers.

American ace killed in training at Kelley Field
Captain Field E. Kindley, noted American ace with twelve German planes to his credit, and commander of the 94th aero squadron, was killed while in a practice formation at Kelley Field Number 2. The crash occurred about 50 feet above ground during preparations for General Pershing's visit. His home was Gravette Arkansas. His death leaves Major Reed M. Chambers as the top ace with seven confirmed kills.

Free hotel site offered in San Saba
The San Saba Chamber of Commerce board accepted a free modern hotel site offered by Barnes Lumber Co. manager J H Johnston. The corner lot 70 by 150 feet on the Hugh Miller block is between town and the depot, a desirable location though distant from the business core. Mrs Jones, secretary, reports daily inquiry letters and hotel propositions.

District Conference Set for San Saba Event
The Lampasas District Conference will meet at the San Saba Methodist Church February 24 for a two day session. It lists 19 pastors 14 local preachers and up to thirty to forty laymen from several churches expected. A plan is offered to make visitors welcome and promote the town through clergy observation and word of mouth. Also announced is a poultry pedigree ad offering White Leghorn eggs at 15 eggs for 2 dollars and 60 eggs for 5.60 dollars from Mrs H C Holcomb.

Cherokee Junior College Receives $50,000 Endowment
The Cherokee Junior College said to have received a $50,000 endowment from the General Board of Education of the church. Tenure provides $5,000 yearly for the physics, land chemistry laboratory and manual training workshop. Rev. Charles Nixon, the college’s financial agent, praised a strong year of work for church and school.

Income Tax Report Must Be Filed By March Fifteenth
