Coldest Weather Friday Hits San Saba Area
Last Friday morning the thermometer fell to 24 degrees in San Saba with thick ice, marking the coldest spell of the season. Farmers welcomed the blast as porkers were slaughtered for sausage. Dr Felts reports a bouncing baby boy born January 24 to Mr and Mrs John Farrell of Harkeyville named Howard Weldon. C E Deese and son Dell visited from Hillsboro to tend San Saba property and reconnect with old acquaintances.

Richland Springs May Hold County Meet This Year
Richland Springs may host the San Saba County Meet as officials consider where the event will be held. The Executive Committee voted no admission fees and that Richland Springs would cover costs, with possible awards in question if San Saba cannot offer them. More Pecan Trees For School Campus Work Underway
Bill Milhegn of River Bend Farm and D F Moore are arranging and setting improved pecan trees around the grammar school campus. The project will complete the tree line except the southwest corner, where Mesquite trees remain. The pecan trees planted near the high school three years ago produced a good crop this year. W J Whitfield of Chicago visited with his wife and left for home after two months’ stay, Mrs Whitfield known locally as Miss Selma Grumbles.

Baby Beef Club Tour Planned For February 22
At a January 30 meeting the county wide Baby Beef Feeding Demonstrations tour was set for February 22. The plan calls for a February 20 tour across Chapel and Cherokee Clubs, then a San Saba to Richland Springs sequence visiting Future Farmer members under Mr Powell's Vocational Class.
