Collision fatal to 71 year old man Saturday
Roland Maxwell aged 71 of the Sloan community died Saturday at San Saba Memorial Hospital after his pickup and a car collided at the Sloan road intersection with US 190 three miles west of San Saba. Driver Brayton Kirby Shirley, 30, of Midland, was hospitalized with injuries and released later. Hudson, a companion, received treatment for scratches and bruises. The accident, blamed on failure to yield, occurred as Maxwell attempted a left turn from the highway. Maxwell’s death was San Saba County’s first traffic fatality since June 1958. Burial was in Wallace Creek Cemetery, Howell-Do min funeral directors in charge.
