The News questions San Saba County’s role in a Texas pecan advertising plan costing 200000 dollars. Texas will produce about 10000000 pounds of pecans this year, with San Saba County alone forecast to yield 3000000 pounds or 30 percent of the state total. If San Saba growers pay 30000 dollars of the assessment, they should have representation on the decision board.
Dr J J Taylor of Richland Springs suffered a broken arm after a fall and now endures a stiff hand. Miss Mary Sloan departs for St Louis to serve as matron in a seminary. Emory Teague from San Angelo visited his dying mother, with most children present. R G Murray returns from New York with a dry goods stock for fall and winter. The Fitzsimons Land and Cattle Company received about 1,000 goats at its Llano County ranch from San Saba parties. Of these, 598 came from Owen Brothers and 399 from W. W. Dickason. Goats are on the range east of Llano. Sherman Johnson, manager, and H. A. Fitzsimons of San Antonio returned from Eldorado Kansas on cattle business. The Brook Hereford Ranch at Brady adds two new twin sisters trench silos, bringing total silos to five. One silo measures 500 feet by 12 feet by 8 feet and stores about 920 tons of ensilage. The other is 400 feet by 7 feet by 11.5 feet, with capacity around 610 tons.

Modie Hayes and Palmer Lackey left Monday for Los Angeles to join the same construction company Hayes has served with for two years. Wichita visitors Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wilkerson, R. E. Rumbaugh, and Leonard Ivy returned home after a fishing trip. Mrs. Wilkerson is sister to Mrs. W. H. Lightfoot. Supt. and Mrs. W. M. Campbell and two children came back from Cambridge, Massachusetts, where Campbell studied at Harvard Summer School and pursued a PhD.
