Mr and Mrs Joe James announce the birth of a son named David Neal at Memorial Hospital Brownwood on August 12 weighing seven pounds five ounces. Grandparents are Mrs Arch Clements and Mr Arch Clements of San Saba and Mr and Mrs Jeff James of Spur.
Woodson Barrell spent a few days last week visiting his sister Mrs Edward Thornton and family in Goldthwaite.
Mr and Mrs C H Bowers returned home on Wednesday August 10 after a weeklong vacation through West Texas and New Mexico. They stayed with relatives in Lubbock Albuquerque Santa Fe and Big Spring visiting Bar ney Bowers Augusta Gibbons Bowers Gibbons and J McDowell family members during the trip.
Elizabeth Ann Wash and Mary Jo McGregor represented San Saba county 4-H in the District Dress Revue at Abilene on August 10. Senior Wash competed against peers from multiple counties. state awards await winners on October 15 at the Wallas Fair.
The Junior Circle of the Women’s Society of Christian Service at First Methodist Church gathered at Mrs. Alvin Mays home. Mrs. Mays led the devotional, and Mrs. Sterling Lindsey led the study. A brief business session followed with attendees including Mrs. A. A. Raesener, Mrs. Mays, Mrs. B. Byrd, Herbert Clark Jr., and Sterling Landeey.
Miss Clara McKown bride elect of Sunny Wood was feted at a 3 to 6 pm gift tea in the First Baptist Church parlor. Hostesses included Mines Clyde Hayes Osborne Mullins Sam Laird T Smith and Jack Smithhart. Guests and family members served and admired a yellow and white centerpiece tea setting with about 60 guests registered.
Relatives of Jack D. Jackson of Merced and J F Yarbrough of Houston gathered at the old fairgrounds for a Sunday family reunion with dinner and music by Gerald Johnson, Dean Taff, and Buddy Roy. Attendees included numerous J s and family members from San Saba, Ft Worth, Brownwood, Lubbock, Austin, Bend, Bangs, and other Texas locales.
Fire descendants of the late Mr and Mrs W D Parisher held their annual reunion August 7 at Cherokee Creek. A barbecue dinner with all trimmings fed 216 relatives and friends. Attendees included many Parisher and Cavness families from Say Saba Houston Lubbock Midland Pecos and other Texas towns, plus visitors from San Angelo and Waco.
