San Marino Tests Five Civil Defense Sirens Friday
San Marino will conduct a monthly Civil Defense air raid siren drill this Friday to simulate an alert and take cover signal. City Manager C E Martin says the test trains staff, checks audibility and mechanical operation, with future dates listed for 1955 56 including October 28 November 25 December 30 January 27 1956 and February 24 1956. Sirens were recently installed at five locations near the high school Holiday restaurant Colonial Kitchen Los Robles and Mission and Huntington Library estate.

Second In A Series Human Kindness Life Is Judge
McIntyre Faries, judge of the Superior Court in San Marino, advocates that government can be kind without stifling initiative. A native of Shantung, North China, he came to the U S as a child, grew up in California, and pursued law while assisting the Auto Club of Southern California. Richard F. Hill 83 of Corona died in Long Beach on Monday September 26 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Lillie Stone. Funeral services were held in Corona. He leaves his daughter Mrs. Stone and three sons Jess Edgar of Portland Ore and Frederick in South America. his wife died last June.

Recreation Director Howard Hites reports the San Marino Community Swimming Pool closed last weekend due to bad weather and near empty attendance. The pool will reopen next spring for recreational swimming. Currently high school students use the facility for physical education.

Final Rites Held For Louis Kessler in San Marino
Funeral services were held Saturday for Louis Kessler of Los Robles Avenue who died September 21. Burial took place at Mountain View Mausoleum. He had lived in San Marino 21 years and is survived by his wife Fola L. and four sisters. Kessler was a member of Salt Springs Lodge No. 520 F and AM Syracuse Consistory Scottish Rite and Al Makkah Shrine in Los Angeles.
