San Marino Cross Country Opens 1992 Season With Strong Showings
San Marino High School cross country opened the season at the Rosemead Invitational with 23 boys medals and a girls team victory by more than six minutes. Co-Captains Ben Nichols and Dennis Tong led the seniors, while Lee Zuckerman and Warren Wolf starred in the junior race. The 1992 San Marino Freshman football team opened with a 7-6 win over Dana of Arcadia for their first-ever triumph over the Mariners. John Tuttle connected on a 12-yard TD pass to Gary Sechler, with Mike Rosenfeld adding the decisive extra point. Dana drove 70 yards late but failed on a two-point try as San Marino ran out the clock. The Frosh host Saugus on Sept 24 at 4 p.m.

California CDFA USDA and Los Angeles County officials enlarge a Medfly quarantine to about 53 square miles after three Mediterranean fruit flies were trapped in Pasadena on September 8. The area includes Avonic Boulevard to Main Street and Las Tunas Drive to Live Oak Avenue, with further boundaries toward Bradbury and the Angeles National Forest.
