Girls Fall Instructional Softball League Debuts Sunday

The San Marino National Little League sponsors a girls instructional softball program for ages 7-14. Sessions run Sundays 1 to 3 PM from September 14 through November 16 at Huntington Middle, with age and skill level groups. Coaches focus on fundamentals and having fun while learning baseball basics.

San Marino Schools Foundation kicks off 03 04 annual campaign

Dailey Delivers California Photo History at Old Mill

Art historian Victoria Dailey spoke at the Old Mill on the 153rd anniversary of California’s statehood. Her illustrated talk, Paradise On Paper, traced Southern California’s image from the Gold Rush era to 1925, with rare prints and a chorus of crickets on the Pomegranate Patio.

Huntington seeks amendment to ban on alcohol sales

The Huntington Library requests San Marino amend a code barring beer and wine sales in its Historical Cultural zone. George Abdo and Laurie Sowd said they want beer and wine in the Tea Room to enhance visitor experience and revenue. Sodexho handles liquor licenses for catered events, not profit from alcohol at The Huntington. Weddings remain unlikely for now, though the topic could be revisited.

San Marino Police Seek Witnesses to Saturday Hit and Run

San Marino Police urge residents to come forward about a hit and run on Huntington Drive near Palomar Saturday between 7:00 and 7:10 a.m. A male pedestrian was hit in a crosswalk and seriously injured as the driver fled. Detectives seek any sightings of a speeding vehicle.

UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero Speaks at City Club

Dan Guerrero UCLA Director of Athletics will speak at San Marino City Club Sports Night on Tuesday September 16 at Southwestern Academy 2800 Monterey Road. The event follows a summer hiatus and features the outdoor barbecue. Guerrero, a UCLA alumnus and former Irvine AD, shaped UCLA programs by hiring new coaches in football and basketball. He played second base in the Bruin baseball team earning a .343 career average and was inducted into the UCLA Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996.

Real Thomas Jefferson debated by historians and church records
