Chinese Club Sets Mid Autumn Festival Kickoff Dinner
The San Marino Chinese Club hosted a kickoff dinner at Mandarin Shanghai Restaurant in Arcadia to launch the Mid-Autumn Festival. Distinguished attendees included Mayor Vince Filutze Police Chief Frank Wills and School Board Member Bob Gayl. Guests enjoyed a seven course traditional Chinese meal at the social gathering.

Board to Receive Oversight Committee Recommendations
The Citizens' Oversight Committee will urge the San Marino Unified Board to accept most Phase II bids for San Marino High School and Carver Elementary School. The plan adds a math and science building with seven labs and seven classrooms at the high school and a new library, technology center, and four classrooms at Carver. The committee also recommends rebidding Carver shell and other divisions where bids were poor or scope changed.

Dick Wallen to Speak at City Club Meeting
Dick Wallen famed UCLA football star and consensus All American in the late 1950s will address San Marino City Club at the September 15 dinner at Southwestern Academy. Wallen, a San Gabriel Valley native and Alhambra High School alumnus, later earned a UCLA B A in physics in 1959 and a USC J D in 1962, later specializing in patent and intellectual property law.
