Mitch Lehman reports San Marino Unified School District greeted 14 new educators across Carver Valentine Huntington and San Marino High School campuses at a back to school breakfast. New staff include Sherry Lee Stacey Travisano Sonia Karpiel Eileen Pinkerton Tina Nott Rose d Amato Cheryl Kemery Molly Wiebe Joe Pyle John Edmonds Katherine Ross Dana Lovecchio David Cohen and D R Moreland. Classes began Tuesday across all campuses.

The San Marino Public Library schedules events for children including Police Officer Storytime a meet and greet with a San Marino Police Department officer on September 3 at 2 00 pm. A September 21 workshop teaches treasure hunting for books for K 2 parents and kids. Call 300 0777 to reserve. A reading program with a friendly dog occurs the third Saturday each month 10 30 11 30 am. Pre K children can get a First Library Card packet with bookmark sticker and free book by visiting with a parent.

Nine-year-old origami artist teaches at San Marino Library
Sara Venkatraman of Orlando Place presented an origami workshop at the San Marino Public Library this month. A self taught creator who lived five years in Tokyo, she now folds over 100 figures and began after receiving an origami design book at age six. She will enter fifth grade at Pasadena’s High Point Academy in September.
