Crist Named New SMHS Assistant Vice Principal
David W. Crist, longtime San Marino High School counselor and former football and track coach, was named assistant principal of activities at SMHS at Tuesday's school board meeting. He replaces Don Banderas who resigned last summer. Crist, a San Marino product, earned a BA from the University of Redlands in 1971 and has spent his career at SMHS, later becoming a counselor and coach, a post he will give up reluctantly. The board also approved participation in the South Pasadena San Marino YMCA Feelin Good program to boost cardiovascular awareness in elementary grades, funded by the American Heart Association.

One San Marino resident advances in the 1981 82 Tournament of Roses Queen and Court competition. From 785 hopefuls in Pasadena area schools and colleges, 29 move to finals on Thursday October 15 at Tournament House. Final interviews with nine judges precede the October 19 announcement of the seven member Royal Court. The coronation on October 27 at Wrigley Mansion will crown the Rose Queen and six consorts to represent the Tournament at about 80 events and the New Year Parade.
