Philanthropist Dess Rose Dies After Illness
Edessa Rose a San Marino civic leader and philanthropist died in Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital after a long illness. Widow of Don Hayden Rose she built a life of civic service from law student to Household Finance executive and community volunteer. Her work ranged from Huntington Memorial Hospital fundraising to Red Cross and Boy Scouts to music and library support. She and Don Rose funded a Claremont McKenna College professorship and she served on its board before her death.
