Sav-On Liquor Sales Set by Los Angeles County

A Sav-On Drug Store, formerly Louis Foods, will sell liquor beer and wine from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily after a Zoning Permits Section approval. The alcohol sales permit (hearing case 97103) was issued Jan. 7 and the store is expected to open early next fall.

San Marino Mayor reports progress toward 2013 Vision goals

In a Rotary luncheon address mayor Vince Filutze said San Marino is on track to meet about 60 percent of the 2013 Vision plan goals. He cited improvements in schools standards traffic and public safety while noting efforts on a planned West and Huntington community center and a drop in commercial vacancies to 8 percent retail and 11 percent office spaces. He highlighted city staff by narrating a slide show and thanked workers for their service.

Four Scouts Earn Eagle Honors at Court of Honor

TRIBUNE CORRESPONDENT four scouts from troops 351 355 and 358 were named Eagle Scouts at a Court of Honor held Monday night in Huntington Middle School Auditorium. David Aldridge Kevin Weeks Matt Pierce and Pao Yen Lin received the Eagle rank while Life awards went to Alex Keene Alex Lee and Hudson Hou and Ben Ying earned the Star award. Jim Gott presented the awards and spoke about the significance of the rank which requires about 22 merit badges and a community service project.

Ted Jones announces Terry Ryan will replace Judy Almond as manager of Cal-Am Los Angeles and Ventura operations. A 21 year employee, Almond moves to Monterey later this summer. Ryan, with Cal-Am since 1986, is operations manager overseeing San Marino Duarte and Baldwin Hills.
