San Marino approves 25 cent school tax increase
San Marino Unified School District won approval for a 25 cent maximum tax rate increase on Friday with 62 percent of voters, yielding about 93 000 extra for next year. In three polling places 1 041 supported the measure while 604 opposed. Alexander Robertson led for a four year board seat unopposed with 1 523 votes. ten write ins garnered one vote each. Funds will cover capital outlay salary hikes and maintenance for five schools and officials praised the Citizens School Tax Information Committee.

Accident Victim Rites Held Monday
Funeral services for Dr. William Paul Krieg of Doresta Road, who died May 17 from head injuries after an accident near Los Robles and Mission, were held Monday at the Little Stone Church in Turner. Dr. Krieg, a San Marino resident for 20 years, was born in Highland Falls, New York and came to California 23 years ago. He is survived by his wife Gertrude M., a brother Clarence E. of Middleton, New York, two sisters Minnie Hill of Highland Falls and Mrs. George N. Preston of Washington, D.C.

Charter Night Celebrates San Marino Exchange Club
More than 400 members and guests attended as the San Marino Exchange Club received its charter from the national organization. President Arthur Meifert presided while Fred S. The students of San Marino High thank the people of San Marino for Operation Workday. Over 4000 students were given jobs and more than $1000 has been mailed to the high school with more contributions arriving. Half the sum goes to the PTA Scholarship Fund and half to the Student Body Fund for school activities.

William J. Fox 57, longtime Los Angeles county engineer, announced plans to retire August 12 after more than 28 years of service. A retired Marine brigadier general, he led five county departments in 1951 and previously headed the County Regional Planning Commission and Building and Safety, plus aviation.
