Court of Honor to honor San Slato Eagle Scouts
The Court of Honor will be held Monday evening May 29 in Huntington School auditorium following the Camporee at Lacy Park. Five Scouts from Troops 2 3 and 9 will receive the Eagle Award with other senior badges and awards likely the largest ever at a March Court.

San Marin high school students Miss Enid Hart and Miss Mary Elms have won college scholarships to Pomona College and a 150 dollar resident scholarship, respectively. Scout Camporee Draws Record Attendance at Lacy Park
San Marino residents and Scouts hosted a standout Camporee at Lacy Park with Troop 5 posting the largest attendance to date. Judges praised preparation and teamwork as awards were given for message relay, memory tests, bugling, commando race, track events, first aid, and message writing with Troops 1 2 3 4 and 5 earning top honors.

Local Cub Pack Initiates 13 New Members

Henry Mackel Praised After Aerial Gunnery Graduation
Photographer-gunner Henry K. Mackel of San Marino received a personal commendation from Commander E. E. Dolecek after graduating with honor from an aerial gunners training course at the U S Naval Air Station Jacksonville Fla. The 18 year old petty officer will combine photography and gunnery training to become a naval air crew man and air combat team member. Mackel is the son of Mr and Mrs James P Mackel of 2847 Cumberland Road and was noted as one of ten honor students for his classroom record and aerial marksmanship.

Poppies to Be Sold Here This Week End
Mrs Sarah H Nash local chairman announces the American Legion Auxiliary sale of one thousand veteran made paper poppies in San Marino Friday and Saturday May 26 27 to raise the local quota of 100 dollars. School Trustees Re elected Share of votes shown for incumbents
Votes of confidence were given to two school board incumbents in last week’s elections. Morris B. Pendleton polled 24 votes as trustee of the San Marino Elementary Schools. State Guardsmen Win Praise For Efficiency
Pasadena's Fourth Battalion of the California State Guard including San Marino's Company B earned a high rating at a federal inspection, with praise for officers and esprit de corps. Company A of Pasadena, led by Capt. Gerald R. White, received special commendation for leadership and training. The 400 officers and men are now fully equipped and ready for emergencies. They were seen in action with standard rifles and 15 field pieces during the Rose Bowl United Nations American Day pageant.

Vanderhoof to Be Ordained Here Sunday
Frank M. Vanderhoof, son of Mr and Mrs Ralph S Vanderhoof, will be ordained at 4 p.m. Sunday at the San Marino Community Church. He is the first from the church to enter and complete the ministry. Vanderhoof is a graduate of Huntington School and South Pasadena San Marino High School, studied at Wheaton College and UC Los Angeles, attended Princeton Theological Seminary, and will pursue graduate work at Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
