City Tennis Week Showcases Young Stars In San Marino
The San Marino Tennis Club hosted a week of events attracting over 450 residents including a four-player exhibition at Huntington School to dedicate the new lights. Notable players Jack Kramer and John Sisson faced Bob Kimbrell and George Richards in a best two of three set match won by Kimbrell Richards 7 9 7 5 6 4. Trophies were awarded in multiple divisions for the Fourth Annual City Tennis Tournament with winners named and engraved in The Tribune’s perpetual trophy.

Patrick J. Ronan 65 died Friday at 950 Roxbury Road after living in California 31 years. Requiem Mass at St. Therese Alhembra was led by Rev. William Michel. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. He was West Coast manager for American Cyanamid in Azusa and a Monrovia Kiwanis past president. Survivors include his wife Genevieve and several sisters.

Physician Samuel J. Alden Dies After Sunday Passing
Private services were held for Dr Samuel J Alden of 1945 Lombardy road who died Sunday. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A native of Pennsylvania he had lived in San Marino twenty years. He is survived by his wife Helene S Alden two daughters Diane Patricia brothers Alvin Melvin and Ward Alden.

Seven Scouts To Receive Eagle Awards At Final Court Of Honor
President D L Robertson of San Gabriel Valley Boy Scout Council will award Eagle badges to seven San Marino Scouts at Huntington School auditorium on Monday evening. Ninety Scouts will receive 145 awards this year, with seven Eagles increasing the total to 27 for the year and four Explorer Ranger awards. The event also features Camporee honors for Troop 5 and a new all around Troop camping lasting trophy. Local clergy, school officials, and civic leaders will participate in the ceremony.

Mrs Reis Still Critically Ill After Burn Incident
Latest reports from Huntington Memorial Hospital say Mrs James W Reis 2330 El Molino Place remains critically ill from severe burns suffered at home last week. Her husband Mr Reis returned from the hospital and is recovering at home under a nurse's care. The couple sustained burns when Mrs Reis fell asleep while holding a cigarette, igniting her clothing as she watched television. He rolled her in blankets to smother the flames before paramedics transported them both to the hospital.

Mission Over Korea Narrows To Castruccio’s Combat Flight
LT(jg) Nicholas A Castruccio USN of San Marino flew his 30th combat mission aboard USS Princeton over Korea in support of UN forces. As a leading Fighter Squadron 191 pilot, he bombed and strafed camouflaged tanks and vehicles near Wonsan, describing a vivid sequence of targets and explosions. He has been recommended for the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
