San Marino's Community Presbyterian Church unanimously approved a call for Dr. P. Martin Baker as permanent pastor. He will begin duties June 8, with a Children’s Day program marking his first pulpit appearance in Newchurch. Baker, from Los Angeles, holds multiple degrees and has pastored in Corsicana Texas and Columbus Ohio.

Cub Pack Meeting Tuesday in San Marino
San Marino Cub Pack will hold its second streamlined meeting Tuesday night May 27 at the Huntington School Auditorium featuring the first showing in San Marino of Marine Corps training films. Major William Fox of San Marino secured the films and will lead the program. The meeting starts at 7 30 p m sharp and those arriving late to the April meeting can testify that the events begin on time.

The San Marino Woman's Club honored mothers of members at yesterday's afternoon meeting. Mrs. Martin W. Stimson, 92, was chosen to represent the honored mothers and became a permanent guest with full privileges. The program featured a review of The Corn is Green and remarks by Edna Stearns Dayton. The event included decorations, a tea hour, and a closing luncheon planned for June 4 at the Huntington Hotel.

Pasadena Girl Scout Council selects leaders and camp plans
Mrs. George Andrews of San Marino was unanimously re elected commissioner of the Pasadena Girl Scout Council. Four other executives were re elected and five new members joined. Mrs Leroy Lorenz of 1675 Bedford Road, San Marino, camp chairman, announced a San Marino group will visit the new Pasadena summer camp next Sunday led by Richard Illsley from the advisory board to inspect the site and enjoy an outing.

Cost Per Pupil At High School Shows Marked Decrease This Year
California Taxpayers Association released figures on the South Pasadena San Marino High School district showing a drop of nearly three dollars per pupil. The report cites $149.31 spent per student this year versus $152.05 in 1938 39, with per pupil salaries at $104.86 and other current costs at $44.45. The note places these figures against regional medians and traces costs rising 44 percent since 1933 34 while pupil attendance grew 21 percent.

At the Hunt Huntington School Auditorium the Boy Scout Court of Honor announced winners of the San Marino emergency mobilization held April 19 and 20 on school grounds. Troop 3 won first place, received a plaque donated by Ray Bryce. Troop 1 was second, Troop 2 third, Troop 4 fourth.
