Gaines Hon, a former city resident on Courtland Avenue, died May 14 at his home 837 North Rosemead Boulevard San Gabriel after several months illness. Born in Waldron Arkansas he lived here 23 years and was a member of the California State Bar Association and Los Angeles and American Bar Associations. Survived by wife Elizabeth H. Errant bird returns home after police chase
San Marino police hunted for a wandering cockatoo after a call from Ralph Trents. Officers located the bird perched in a tree but daytime ended without capture. neighbors later found the bird and returned it to its home on Old Mill Road.

Merrill Youngster Recovering From Dog Bite
Police located a small collie resembling the dog that bit 3 year old Christine Merrill last Tuesday. San Marino Track Meet Plans Set For May 20 at Local School
The second annual track and field meet will be held on Huntington School playground on Saturday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. Open to San Marino seventh and eighth graders and ninth and tenth grade boys with a special relay for eleventh and twelfth graders. Medals awarded to first place and ribbons to the next three. Participants may enter up to two track or two field events plus the relay. Events include sprints, distance runs, broad jump, shot put, low hurdles, and two and four lap relays.

Yeggs are operating in San Marino on a daytime shift in addition to their nocturnal activities. The latest loot from Stewart H. Rogers home at 516 Plymouth Road included two clocks three watches and three suits of clothing. Entry was likely through an unlocked bedroom window between 2 and 5 last Friday afternoon while Mr and Mrs Rogers were away. Dogs did not bark and police have no clues yet on suspects.
