Girl Scouts Visit Fire Department and Local Falls
Girl Scout Troop 14 split into two groups during a Wednesday meeting. Twenty eight tenderfoot girls toured the Pasadena Fire Department to learn about fire prevention and visited the Girl Scout Little House. The other class stayed with leader Mrs Ja cob Minder making spatterprints and maps. On Saturday about 25 girls and leaders hiked to Sturtevant Falls for wildflower instruction by Mrs O J Schieber.

Scout Court of Honor to be Held in San Marino
The San Marino Boy Scout Court of Honor is set for next Wednesday night May 22 at the Huntington School cafeteria under the joint auspices of the San Marino City Club and San Marino Post 239 American Legion. Scout awards will be given to three San Marino troops with a new ritual. Victor E. Teaney will represent the Pasadena San Gabriel Valley Council. San Marino Troop 1 handles opening and closing, Troop 2 presents the musical program, and Troop 3 exemplifies portions of the Seceui ritual. Ceremony begins at 8 p.m. and ends by 9 with public invited.

Shoplifting as a Profession to Be Discussed at City Club
The San Marino City Club hosts a talk titled Shoplifting As a Profession on Tuesday May 21 at 6 30 pm in Huntington School cafeteria. May Building Nears $80,000 Milestone in San Marino
San Marino building records for May approach eighty thousand dollars by mid month per building inspector George H. Crowshey. Six new homes started since May began with four permits issued since last week. New homes at 744 Plymouth and 2190 Loran, plus Windsor and Oak Street projects in Pasadena and South Pasadena involve architects, contractors, and costs ranging from six to nine thousand dollars.

San Marino pays 362 to Activated Sludge Inc in a patent infringement settlement with Pasadena sewage disposal plant. Four other cities share costs with South Pasadena at 1 975, Alhambra 3926, Pasadena 14112. City Attorney Woodward Taylor and City Engineer J Barnett represented San Martino.

Theft Ring Broken By Local Police
San Marino police broke up a burglary ring involving four men and one woman arrested by Los Angeles police on May 9 after Woolshire division findings and San Marino Chief Gene B Woods tip on April 16. Five suspects face charges of receiving stolen property and burglary with a May 17 preliminary hearing. Chief Woods said a Grand Jury probe would illuminate the case and the department’s role dating from mid April.
