San Marino's April report shows burglaries and Part I crimes down for the third straight month. Police Chief James Moore notes 31 arrests in April, 7 burglaries, 29 Part I crimes, and a year long trend of reduced property loss.
San Marino Unified School District adopted a two year kindergarten and a new prekindergarten program on April 30. The plan will bring about 45000 in new state funds in 1986 87 based on enrollment, starting fall 1985 for the district but funds not until next year. District officials say 18 20 students are expected to enroll and the program aims to help children mature before kindergarten. The district has allocated 900 for curriculums and will decide class locations and instructors in June.
FSLIC sues former San Marino Savings and Loan officials and accountants seeking 193 million in restitution for liquidation costs after the bank was declared insolvent. The Lender had been seized by the FHLBB on Feb 3 1984 and placed in FSLIC conservatorship, marking the largest loss in FSLIC history.
San Marino piano instructor Kristi Lobitz plans a move to Mt San Antonio College in Walnut but will continue private lessons in San Marino. She aims to place students at all levels, juggle schedules, and keep music in the city while pursuing a four year college teaching path.
