City Club Hosts Annual Golf Tournament in San Marino
The San Marino City Club invites the community and members and their guests to its Annual Golf Tournament at San Gabriel Country Club on Monday June 23 2008. The event features a 1230 PM shotgun start with men's and women's divisions and a handicapped format to ensure enjoyment. Cochairs Pete Loeffler and Tom Santley urge early reservations as the field is limited to 72 golfers. The ladies flight is led by Jean Gunnell with 2007 champions Gunnell and Bob Hogeboom expected to defend. The club supports local groups and hosts monthly dinners open to all residents. Chinese Club Flower Sale Aids San Marino Schools
The Chinese Club of San Marino hosts a Mother's Day Flower Sale on May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2425 Huntington Drive and Huntington Middle School 1700 Huntington Drive. San Marino roofing scam targets elderly resident
A San Marino resident was approached by two strangers posing as roofers on April 11 2008. After a brief inspection they claimed repairs were needed and pressured the elderly woman to pay 5000 cash for services rendered, citing a higher price of 5600. The suspects described as a 40 to 45 year old man and a woman posed as daughter and claimed past work. The incident prompted warning about phony contractors and age-targeted scams.
