Invitations vended for an iyvic Dinner in Huntington City. May 21st dinner features speakers including H Rambroz and Stephen W Royce. Spanish dancers and decor detail highlight elaborate preparations by the dinner committee led by Mary Marino and William A Marmon.
The Court of Honor closes its 1935 36 term Tuesday evening at the Hunting Auditorium. Second Class scouts and Merit Badges will be presented by commanders and troop leaders. Troops One Three Two will participate with troop officers guiding the ceremony and muster.
E. E. Malliet charged by San Marino police with receiving stolen property from a burglary at the Lyman Robertson home at 600 Plymouth Road was held for trial in Los Angeles Superior Court Division 3. A preliminary hearing Monday morning saw San Marino officers testify. He remains jailed in Los Angeles County for trial.
The San Marino Book and Drama Forum will hold its next to last meeting on Friday morning May 15 at 7:30 at the home of Mrs Elza C Mowry 1380 Waverly drive. Mrs Edward Tufts will present literary reviews and Mrs Frank Hart will handle the drama with Mrs O H Kruger as hostess and assistants Mesdames Oliver J Schieber H H McCormick Ernest Pardum Charles Eckels and N P Brettner.
Dr. E H Morrissey has filed to seek another three year term as school board trustee. The election is set for Friday June 5 with Morrissey as the only candidate so far. Filing closes Thursday May 21 under new state law delaying the start of the term to July 1.
A Tuesday night crash on Huntington drive at Virginia road left Mrs Medora Springer 65 Sleepy Hollow Placentia with serious injuries likely a fractured hip. The other driver Mrs W F Stellway Arcadia suffered minor lacerations. Fred Springer uninjured. investigators Officer C J Holt Lt Glenn McClung and officers Stewart Frank and Bahn handled the case.
San Marino students close for the summer on June 18 and return September 14. Faculty finish June 19 per the school board.
San Marino Garden Club hosts its first annual flower show from 1 to 10 p.m. at Huntington School gymnasium. A 7:30 p.m. talk on Our Mexican Heritage by Clyde Hurley will run in the auditorium. Floral displays, unusual plants, and arrangements welcome visitors.
Warm spring weather framed the Huntington School May festival titled May Magic. Students in vivid costumes performed songs and dances on the new outdoor court stage as Roy Chanters and Priscilla Cunningham led the program. The show featured the Sun in a chariot, animals and birds in colorful outfits, and a final spring dance by Barbara Ann Norton with kindergarteners guiding fairy figures into the gardens of the world.

Two pedestrians died in separate auto incidents near San Marino city limits Friday and Saturday. Floyd Fargo, 65, died after being struck on Sierra Bonita Street. his wife, Priva, survived. Reverend John F. rector, his grandchildren Glenn Jr and Virginia, were killed when a load of two by fours toppled in a freak accident on the Daniel Hunsaker property east of the city.
Twenty local men turn out for the Night Baseball team. Next Tuesday the local team plays Omega Phi. Camp and root for the team, says Cronshey, the local manager.
Chesney W. Carver son of Mr and Mrs Chesney W Carver of 2660 Oak Knoll avenue is a member of the Pomona Men's Glee Club which will hold its annual home concert Friday and Saturday at Bridges Hall of Music on the campus. He is a San Marino boy tenor voice and will perform pieces including Professor Ral ers rounds and a humorous skit.
William J. Hunsaker age 21 died instantly Tuesday in an automobile crash at Tajiguas Canyon bridge 25 miles north of Santa Barbara. He was USC Law senior, San Marino resident, Eagle Scout, and brother of Daniel Jr and Mary Katherine. Robert Petit injured. funeral by Du Bois in San Gabriel.
William Lawton of 328 Grant Street Pasadena was arrested early Monday by Officer Jess Black after a car struck a tree before 1812 West Drive home of Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Tibbetts. Judge Mackel fined Lawton 100 dollars with 50 suspended. his prior arrest occurred on December 31, 1934.
May activity shows four building permits issued as A. Pierre and Son proceed on a 9 room two story home at 1312 Oxford road with architect J. Bing. E A Daniell builds a nine room two story house for Mr and Mrs Robert Kiilfer at 2 Jreway road. Robert Bischoff plans a 10 room two story home at 1442 Bedford with architect R V Livingstone and contractor C Lester Jones. A. Schleicher starts a new tract home on north Gainsborough drive and a 7 room house at 2745 North Gainsborough costs 6500 with P E Jones as contractor.
Reginald Bland will direct the Pasadena Civic Orchestra in the final Young People concert at 2 15 today at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Many San Marino children plan to attend, announced Mrs. Rockwood C Nelson, Huntington PTA music chair.
Geary Bundschu wins commissioner general elect post at South Pasadena High School for 1936 37. Other officers include Margaret Alman commissioner of publicity Bob Browne commissioner of athletics and Dick Wagner commissioner of the interior. Finance post requires revote after May 5 election. Virginia Dean and Bob Page top two in finance race.
A daylight burglary occurred at the Darlington residence 573 La Paz Drive north of California Street. Mrs Evans R Darlington and family found the home ransacked at 8 pm after leaving at 10 am. Jewelry old watches and money valued around 300 were taken through an open window. Police noted the San Marinans area as the scene of entry and theft.
Election coverage shows heavy turnout for San Marino primary with a record vote. Warren ticket led with 1135 votes against Landon 314, Roosevelt 208, McGroarty 25, Sinclair 16. Bond propositions failed heavily across precincts with large margins. Presidential preference skewed Republican despite registration showing four to one GOP.
Attendance at Huntington school Saturdays is small. The Playground Commission may abandon the program unless more San Marino boys participate. Ray Bruce leads supervised games from 10 to 5 with baseball basketball and track among activities. report urges larger turnout.
The San Marino Choral Club presents its annual spring concert Monday evening at 8 in Huntington School auditorium. Directed by Professor Albert J. Adams of South Pasadena High School, the program features a male quartet, instrumental selections, and chorus numbers. Details to follow next week.
The Stoneman School May pageant titled The Pageant of the Seasons will begin at 1 p.m. this Friday afternoon, not 1:30 as previously announced. All five classes will participate in the festival with the children dressed in gay costumes.
San Marinans are urged to return mailed telephone questionnaires to tally opinions on local service. Hearing on May 21 before the State Railroad Commission will consider the results. 400 of 1338 letters answered as of Wednesday.
