Yorba Linda Recreation Dream Becomes Reality With New Facilities
Yorba Linda and Yorba Linda Middle School created a shared recreation facility, the Casa Loma Field House later named Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House. Built in 1996 for 3 million dollars and funded by the city Redevelopment Agency, the site serves school needs during weekdays and community activities the rest of the time.

SMHS Service Clubs Host Tsunami Benefit Walk May 14
Three San Marino High School clubs join forces at Lacy Park on Saturday May 14 to raise funds for Indian Ocean tsunami victims. The event starts 9:30 a.m. with a 2 mile course open until noon, with breakfast fruit and water along the route. Adults must chaperone children under 9.

Valentine Students Name Two Principals For A Day
Fifth grader Marion Riley Campbell and third grader Liam Riley served a one day term as Principal for a Day at Valentine Elementary on April 4. Their parents won the live auction at the Valentine Parent Party and awarded official school badges and business cards. They toured classrooms supervised recess and visited the district office while checking for maintenance and safety issues on campus. The students and peers behaved well and followed playground rules.

Tribune 5K Run to Benefit Blecksmith Leadership Fund
The San Marino Tribune will host a July 4 2005 9:00 a.m. 5K Run Walk to raise funds for the J. P. Blecksmith Leadership Foundation at Flintridge Preparatory School La Cañada. Blecksmith a Naval Academy graduate and U S Marine Corps member killed in Iraq will be honored as the fund nears 240000 dollars. The route starts at The Tribune offices 1441 San Marino Avenue and includes traffic arteries near Lacy Park and San Marino Avenue. The Rotary Club of San Marino will dedicate a new clock after the race awards. Proceeds support the Blecksmith Foundation and its scholarships.

Historian Bob Travis will discuss Elias Jackson Baldwin a California legend at Huntington Westerners meeting on Saturday May 21. The luncheon will be at Beckham Grill Pasadena. Baldwin born 1828 in Hamilton Ohio grew up on Indiana farm then led a wagon party to California amid floods and Indian attacks declaring I am not licked yet.
