Children from Huntington School perform in the Festival of Music and Art at the school auditorium Friday May 6 at 7 30. Programs include the school orchestra Boys and Girls Glee Clubs sixth grade quartet and solos by Marlyn Balling Jan Slater Robert Chaney Benny Wightman and others with pieces spanning ballet trumpet and Hawaiian numbers. Proceeds fund school music and art gifts and the art exhibit features photographs by local photographers.

Sweden Honors Ted Laveson For Goodwill Work
Ted Laveson of 1100 Winston Avenue received a special Pioneer memorial medal from Sweden. Ambassador Erik Boheman presented the honor at a dinner at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on April 27, recognizing Laveson’s work promoting Swedish American goodwill and his leadership of the Swedish Club of Los Angeles in 1947. The award is among 400 medals issued. only three have been given in Minnesota.

Sweepstake Winners Named For Flower Show Exhibits
The San Marino Garden Club Flower Show filled Huntington School gymnas ium with hundreds of blossoms last weekend. Sweepstake awards went to Mrs. Neil Thackaberry for flower arrangement and Mrs. Roy Ensignin for specimen classification. Second and third place finishers included Mrs. J. Walstrom and partners in arrangement and Mrs. Harold Dryden and Mrs. W. Franklin Werrick in specimen classification. The May Day theme featured a green and yellow May pole with magnolia branches and yellow marguerites. The Huntington Botanical Gardens contributed desert plants, while Wayside Market sold club-grown plants.
