City Club notes Sheriff B Describes Changes In Crimefighting
Sheriff Sherman Block told the San Marino City Club on April 18 that after 39 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the core mission remains protection of life and property apprehension of criminals and crime prevention. He outlined ten environmental changes making policing more difficult including shifts toward entitlement and a diverse county with 140 countries and over 90 languages. He urged community based policing and tailored approaches to individuals to address a more complex social landscape.

San Marino Sgt. Gough injured in two weekend accidents
San Marino Police Sgt. Tricia Gough sustained minor injuries in two traffic incidents while on patrol on April 30. The first crash occurred near Sierra Madre Boulevard and Del Mar in Pasadena, involving another moving vehicle and a parked car. Gough was treated at a hospital, released, and is expected to return to work soon. CHP report pending. Detectives are also pursuing a missing person case involving a 28-year-old journalist last seen April 9, believed en route to Beijing.

Restoration Of Stoneman School Mural Begins
The San Marino Historical Society invites locals to view the beginning of restoring a lost kindergarten mural at Stoneman Elementary School 1650 Pasqualito Dr San Marino. The event runs Tuesday May 9 from 6 to 7 30 p m. The 1930 mural by Lucile Lloyd was covered for years and one panel was restored last year with 20000 city funds from a January Proposition A exchange with Commerce.
