Public hearing on estate zoning for San Gabriel area stalls decision
City Council held a public hearing on a proposed subdivision near San Gabriel and California streets. Dr. E. D. Woodhouse and his attorney urged approval of Tract 11731, while seven residents pressed for an estate zone of 25 000 sq ft. The council adjourned to executive session with no decision, due next Wednesday May 10. The council also approved a state bill allowing San Marino to withdraw from the South Pasadena high school district and sent a telegram supporting the bill. Residents named several property owners backing estate zoning. Collis Holladay opposed, owning seven acres since 1903.

The San Marino Garden Club Flower Show in Huntington Gymnasium Saturday drew hundreds. Under Mesdames C R McQuiston and Alex Robertson exhibits were tastefully arranged with flower displays, children’s exhibits, and long center tables. Plant sales in the corridor, educational exhibits in the PTA room, and photos by Dr J G Metcalf highlighted the event with no admission charge.
