Real Estate Conference Draws San Marino Board
The National Real Estate nation sponsored a conference on real estate sales in Alhambra at the Fiks clubhouse on West Main Street. The San Marino Board attended with full participation as speakers from the National Realty Boards and the extension service discussed realtor matters. The event ran all day from 7 until p m. and reflected on city growth over the last sixteen years.

Signal at Granada Ave Considered for Rail Crossing Safety
The City Club may endorse a proposal to ask the railroad company to erect a wig wag signal at Huntington Drive and Granada Avenue. Granada crossing is heavily used between Garfield and Sierra Madre avenues and currently has no danger signal. Residents cite numerous near misses and urge action at the upcoming City Club meeting.

City council of San Marino did not meet on April 23 due to lack of quorum. The next meeting is set for May 8 at city hall where playground supervision appointments from the committee will be considered.

Youthful Star Loses Match at Ojai Invitation
Miss Elizabeth Rathbourne of East drive was defeated in the annual women’s invitation at Ojai last week. The match went three sets against a well known opponent. Rathbourne plans to enter the Los Angeles tournaments on May 8. Jack Creamer of Flyer drive, South Pasadena High School, also competed at Ojai and made a strong showing before returning home last Saturday.

Adventure Boat Nomad Sets World Voyage From Long Beach
The ketch Nomad, carrying youths Dan Blum and Stephen Miranda, left Long Beach harbor for a five year circumnavigation. The Adventurers of the World flag flew from the mainmast, presented by Col. E. P. Bailey. Charlie Chaplin christened the boat. Captain Stetson leads the crew Hansen and a cook as they plan ports in Mexico Panama the South Sea Islands and Fiji while using WHDC to stay in touch with California.

Osceola Opera Draws San Marino Crowd At Mission Playhouse
About two hundred San Marino residents attended a San Marino City Club dinner to hear John Steven Mc Groarty discuss his new play Osceola. Tickets sold out as the community joined the San Gabriel Playhouse audience in awaiting a successful, all American drama about the Osceola who sheltered escaped slaves and died a betrayed prisoner.
