In San Marino on a wet day 185 voters at the Henry E Huntington school backed a $75,000 bond proposal for an enlarged school program with 163 in favor and 20 opposed. The second election followed a previous narrow defeat, and the school board members are elated by the result.
Dr. Roman will discuss Austria and Czecho-Slovakia to the Woman's Club of South Pasadena on May 7. He soon sails for Europe to study foreign affairs. Luncheon at 12:30, election of officers to follow, then William Webster Ellsworth speaks on Forty Years of Publishing. Ellsworth, ex-president of Century Publishing, will contrast classic books with modern works and share author anecdotes.
Harold Jackson, a San Marino figure, is appointed manager of sales for Hugh Evans & Co. for the San Marino Pasadena district. He oversees the Huntington San Marino Estate at Huntington Drive and Virginia Road and will push lot disposals in Old Mill Vista No 1 and the final unit of Old Mill Vista No 2.

Pasadena with city approval moves to acquire Euclid Avenue Water Co assets in San Marino. The sale price is $85,000 after extended negotiations. John Earl Jardine serves as president of the Euclid Avenue Co.
Dr O P Gifford the active retired minister marked his 83rd birthday in Pasadena with a Gradgrind Club celebration. An original poem by Mrs Edith K Jewett was read and members enjoyed cake baked by president Mrs Mabel Hyde. The group plans to honor him again on his 84th birthday.

He expresses surprise at the limited knowledge of Australia and its rich raw materials and urges an official Australian representative in Southern California to foster better understanding between the two nations.
