The San Marino Garden Club announces its first Huntington School flower show open to the public. Exhibits include cut flowers plants and arrangements judged by three experts. Special features include student exhibits and rare garden displays with slides on Mexican gardens.
State authorities approve the Arroyo Seco highway plan linking Pasadena and South Pasadena. The proposed road would begin near the dream landing point and extend toward the city, with new entrances and access points on both ends.
Pasadena police responded to an early Sunday report of a prowler at 984 Old Hudson border home where Perry Archer assisted in the investigation. The suspect broke in and fled as officers arrived, leaving the residence lit but with no further details available. Glenn R. and spouse were staying at the residence during the incident.

The San Marino Studio Theatre announces its final spring play Let Us Be Gay by Rachel Crothers, opening May 28. The light comedy centers on Mrs Boucicault and guests with a happy ending, star cast including Margaret Hopkins and Harris Cook, directed by Frances Douglass Cooper.
The Southwestern Military Academy announces a summer excursion beginning June 22 led by Major Maurice Veranda. Cadets will travel north along the coast through Ventura Santa Barbara Paso Robles Monterey Redwoods Park to Oakland San Francisco Santa Rosa Clear Lake Coolidge Park Scotia Humboldt State Park Oregon Caves Grants Pass Mt. Shasta Mt. Lassen National Park Chico Sacramento Merced River Kingsburg Bakersfield Ft. Tejon and return August 11. The trip aims to educate entertain and inspire and the Tribune wishes them a bon voyage.
A San Marinan was involved in a two vehicle crash on April 22 at Winston and Canterbury road. James T Wood Jr of 2695 Lombardy road collided with John G Noble of Pasadena injuring none, Noble treated for bruises and his car overturned. A separate Huntington Winston crash on April 23 injured no one, involving James G Stephenson of Rosemead and Howard L Spaulding.
The Huntington P T A meeting is moved to May 19 for a joint outdoor garden gathering with the Stoneman P T A. Officers will be installed and reports from the recent San Jose state convention will be shared. Elmer C Neher, schools superintendent, will discuss summer school plans.

Three men allegedly burglarized Lyman P Robertson’s home at 600 Plymouth road between April 12 and 15. Harold Garrett 17 fled northwest while Ralph Callagan 19 of Alhambra is jailed for burglary. Molliet held for receiving stolen property and aiding disposal. Jewelry and radio recovered and returned to the San Marino owner.
The San Marino Night Baseball Team will begin practicing Tuesday night May 5 at the Huntington school baseball diamond. Interested players should report to Dick Cronshey at 7 o clock for tryouts.
Election of Mrs Henry A Snow to the presidency of the South Pasadena Senior High School PTA was the main item of the last meeting. She succeeds Mrs O H Emmons who is retiring after two years. Others elected include Mrs C C Johnston first vice president Miss Martha Burncamp second vice president Mrs E H Simpson recording secretary Mrs G E McDonald corresponding secretary Mrs H E Vedder treasurer Mrs O H Emmons parliamentarian Mrs H B Summers historian.
Bids opened on April 27 for rehabilitation of the South Pasadena Senior High auditorium. Administrators hope lower bids allow work to proceed and finish before graduation, ensuring the south building is usable for the farewell assembly and commencement exercises.
A hedge fire near a garage on La Mirada in San Marino was reported shortly after five o clock Tuesday afternoon. Dr. Gerald F. Smith of 744 La Mirada summoned help, and the blaze was extinguished on arrival, per the San Marino fire department chief.
