San Marino residents advanced plans for more recreational facilities at Huntington School auditorium. Temporary leaders were named for the committee of 100, with five-person executive and membership committees authorized. Discussed were playgrounds, a pool, and a center at Lacy Park, plus additional needs at Huntingon and Stoneman schools. The next meeting is in about three weeks. Edward E. James McCormick Dies During Carmel Visit
James McCormick father of Mrs. Forrest Fugle died suddenly while visiting at the Fugle home on Rubio Drive. High Mass was held at Sts Felicitas and Perpetua Church with Rosary recited the evening before. he had lived in Carmel a year and 24 years in Los Angeles. Survived by widow Ethel and children Clyde E McCormick, Mrs. Fugle, Mrs. Russell Patterson, Mrs. Roy Smetz, and Mrs. Edouard Floyd.

Walton Matkin Enjoys Florida Vacation
Walton R. Matkin a former prisoner of the Japanese has arrived at a Miami Beach winter resort for a two week vacation with his parents. He was captured on Mindanao and endured slave labor during captivity. Matkin regained weight since returning home in October and holds several military decorations. He plans to enter college under the GI Bill.
