A preview of the annual wildflower display shows scattered blooms across the Southland this weekend. In the Wasco Shafter district short stemmed poppies and blue eyes appear in a 1500 acre field begin near Seventh Standard Road. Desert blooms near Boulder City and Lake Mead form a vast garden while Palm Springs IndioVerbena and Riverside mustard fields color routes from Hemet to Temecula. Best displays expected in early April.

New Water Line Authorized by Metropolitan Water District
The Metropolitan Water District board authorized a 25 mile water line to deliver filtered Colorado River water to Glendale Burbank Beverly Hills Santa Monica and west Los Angeles as part of the 392 mile aqueduct system. Man Injured Repairing Tire By Roadside
On Tuesday evening at 8, Galen E. Jones of Los Angeles was struck by a car driven by Francis Frost III of 1256 Oak Grove while repairing a tire on Huntington Drive east of Pasqualito. Jones suffered a compound fracture of the left leg and other injuries. condition listed as fair. Sgt. William Beaver ordered ambulance transfer to Huntington Memorial Hospital. both vehicles were drivable afterward. Jones’s wife and child were uninjured.
