E J Fleming president of the Down Town Merchants Association writes to California congressmen who voted no on the President's Economy Bill. He expresses surprise and insists Los Angeles County taxpayers back the President and his cost cutting. The letter targets Hoeppel and other Los Angeles area lawmakers and notes future bills.
Dr. Robert A. Millikan renowned Cal Tech head and Nobel laureate marked his 65th birthday with a record day of work. His grandson Robert Statz, aged 18 months, led the line into his San Marino home, defying formality and going first.
Tuesday afternoon Girl Scout troop visited Huntington Hotel to view California scenes and flowers. They then went to Mrs. Charles Davis home where a talk on flower construction was given. Barbara Jones and Patsy Bryn earned their tenderfoot pins as punch and cookies were served.

Col Edward P Bailey receives two honorary posts reflecting a broad international focus. He chairs the Foreign Trade Promotion Committee of the Foreign Trade Club of Southern California and joins the Board of Governors and Public Relations Committee of the Canadian Club of Southern California.
Dr Edward H Morrissey recently named to the San Marino School Board appears set for a full term at the March 31 election. The election board includes R W Johnson inspector, Mrs Oliver Rothenberger judge, Mrs Freida A Heideman judge, with Mrs W W Wilson and Eugene Ik as rival candidates in the High School race.
The Los Angeles Junior College releases a brief item noting a student described as studious and curious about sciences. The report mentions the student maintains a cautious distance while observing peers and engaging in campus life.
Mrs O B Manchester of South Pasadena leads the bi monthly South Pasadena Juniors meeting at 7 30 pm Tuesday at the clubhouse. The program includes a literature review of fiction and non fiction and a forum on What Read to conclude.
About a hundred members and guests gathered at the Henry E Huntington School on Tuesday evening for a rare program after an enjoyable repast. Percy J Cowherd chaired the meeting and six new members were inducted: Dr John W Hoffman A D Smith A W Alt house Paul W Byers Elmer C Poirier Linn L Dunklin.
Publicity chairmen gather to cut clippings for the P T A publicity books from April 1932 to April 1933. An all day meeting is set for March 28 with district judging on March 31. Mrs Carl May leads as council chairman. Entrants include Mrs Hedwick Lincoln Park School Mrs Philip Erguson Oneonta School Mrs E B Picton El Centro Mrs Frank Ford Marengo and Mrs Bronson Bean Stoneman School.
Members of the San Marino American Legion post with the Ladies Auxiliary aided Monterey Park post in sheltering more than 400 refugees from quake areas at Midwick View Estates. They mobilized trucks of food clothing bedding and cots and provided policing and guard duty as the post enters an active period highlighted by a mounted patrol history film and preparations to enroll boys 12 and older in a Legion Boy Scout troop.
Mrs Oliver J Schieber of Windsor road received a message Monday that her mother Mrs S A Bulfinch was injured in an automobile accident near Yuma Sunday. Bulfinch and two friends, her nephew Bob Parker, were en route to the Carlsbad Caves when the crash occurred. She left for Yuma and reports say all were injured but would return home Friday.
Assembly Bill 897 known as the Figerbaum Bill would annex San Marino Elementary to South Pasadena San Marino High. San Marinans may write or wire E. V. Latham, the district assemblyman, to express disapproval.
