Eagle Scout Roy ser Jr Receives Honor in San Marino
The San Marino Boy Scout Court of Honor held at Huntington school auditorium Monday night awards were presented by Joseph Howe president of the Pasadena-San Gabriel Valley Council. Roy ser Jr. of Troop 1 received the Eagle Scout medal and a miniature pin for his mother. Stanley Arndt gave a flag to each of the three San Marino troops and Dr Carl Omeron with Oscar Rasbach performed.

Father Daughter Dinner at Huntington School Honor Event
The Girl Scouts Fathers and Daughters dinner at Huntington School drew about 260 attendees including Espre de Corps, with many officials present though Mayor Lacy was absent. Local Police Radio System Nears Full Activation
A city wide radio survey this week tests reception as the new police radio system nears completion. The setup includes an aerial, office gear, six patrol cars and three motorcycles equipped for two way comms. Call letters KQDW, 24 hour operation, desk sergeants coordinating with all officers. Chief Glenn McClung says the night light call system will be dropped once fully functional, promising time savings, greater efficiency and protection.

Easter Vacation Dates Set by San Marino School Board
The San Marino School Board announced Easter vacation starts after class Friday April 3 and continues to Monday morning April 10. A May 12 meeting was postponed to avoid the holiday. The board ordered a 700 foot wire fence installation for the new primary building and advertised bids for Venetian blinds. Resolutions were sent to Assemblyman Frederic Houser opposing Assembly Bill 1538 and Senate Bill 355, and the board urged defeat of Bill 1538 which would transfer all seventh and eighth grade students to the junior high.

Huntington Librarian Bliss Reshapes Huntington Library Career
Leslie E. Bliss of 2440 Ridgeway Road leads the Henry E. Huntington Library with twenty four years of service since 1927. A Colgate and New York State Library School graduate, he moved from New York to San Marino on Mr. Huntington's request and helped expand the collection begun by 75 000 volumes. Bliss has held roles with the American Library Institute the California Library Association Theatre Library Association and the New York Historical Society and chairs the San Marino Library board. He married Alice Marion Burnett in 1914 and they have three children Carey Stillman Virginia Leland and Thayer Arnold.

New Warning Issued On Keeping Dogs Confined
Local residents are required to leash dogs or keep them in a property enclosure under San Marino's permanent ordinance. A recent incident in Alhambra involved a dog at large biting a 3 year old child. the dog was found rabid after capture near Los Robles and Mission San Marino. Owners harboring roaming dogs face prosecution.
