Cars In Hedge Is Out On City Hall Parking Lot
Construction began this week on the area between City Hall and the San Marino Tribune building for additional parking. A large hedge was removed to make space for seven or eight city official cars. Concrete will be set and ready for use by next Thursday.

Bids Too High for City Library Air Conditioning
Councilmen rejected all bids for installing air conditioning in the city library after bids ranged from 24 500 to 25 695 dollars, nearly 8 000 over the architect’s 17 000 dollar estimate. They authorized advertising again to attract nearer estimates.
Death of Mrs Heller ruled non violent autopsy shows
Dorothe J. Heller 43 wife of Alfonce H. Heller of Lombardy road was found dead on a shelf in a second floor sewing room. Autopsy reported death not from violence though further tests were planned. Survived by husband Christine their six year old daughter and other relatives. Funeral held at St Elizabeths Altadena.

Titans clinch Rio Hondo victory 5 4 in marathon opener
SMHS Titan Nine edged San Marino 5 4 in the first Rio Hondo League game of 1956 at San Marino. Dave Carter pitched brilliantly for San Marino as Bell Gardens struck early with a two run home run by Proctor and a first inning single by Taylor. The Titans rallied in the seventh inning with Carter at bat producing the winning run after Stilley walked and Carter was hit by a pitch.

Gorrell Suit Declared Mistrial After Hung Jury
A 50 000 civil suit against the San Marino Unified School District over Mary Gorrell ended in a hung jury and a mistrial verdict by Judge David Coleman. The seven to five deadlock prompted father Albert Gorrell to seek a motion for a new trial. The case alleged spinal injuries from a classroom chair being pulled and claimed a teacher failed to maintain order.
