Frighten Ly Fun Little Shop opens at San Marino High

San Marino High School presents the 1998 musical Little Shop of Horrors at Webb Theatre for two weekends starting March 19. Tickets are 10 dollars adults 5 dollars under 18, with shows at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. matinees Sundays. Tickets available noon to 2 p.m. at Neher Auditorium box office. Stop Sign Granted for Los Robles at Winthrop Ashbourne

Residents led by Allan Shenoi and Tim Kuhlman secured a unanimous 5 0 City Council vote to place a stop sign at the Ashbourne Drive and Winthrop Road intersection despite a staff report saying it does not meet state standards. The area, noted for speeding above 30 mph, prompted testimonials citing traffic collisions and a parent’s plea to protect an 18 month old child.

49th Carver Carnival Set for First Day of Spring

The 49th Annual Carver Carnival will be held Saturday March 21 at K L Carver Elementary School in San Marino. The event runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a pre Carnival magic show at 10 a.m. and features a 30 foot slide obstacle course water balloon vault games and a food court with diverse offerings.

Petition Drive Blocked Over Beer and Wine Ordinance

San Marino City Clerk Carol Robb rejected resident Dick Spencer's petition to halt the beer and wine ordinance after finding two major defects. The petition lacked a full text copy for each signer and circulator errors including mail signatures and nonresident volunteers at a post office booth. The issues, noted in a March 16 letter referencing Elections Code requirements, echo earlier legal concerns raised by City Attorney Steve Dorsey.
