Narrow escape for two San Marino girls in Pasadena wreck
Miss Betsy Mansfield and Miss Jayne Hill escaped a deadly two car crash after their auto overturned end over end down the Pacific Electric embankment near Eaton Wash on Sierra Madre Boulevard. Both girls, students at South Pasadena High School, suffered only scratches and bruises after the vehicle skidded 180 feet and ended on its side. Witnesses feared the worst as the car flipped with damp brakes and wet streets on a Saturday afternoon.

Byron C. Taylor of 1320 Lorain Road was robbed of 12 dollars near Colorado and Catalina in Pasadena as two bandits from Los Angeles fled in his car. Final nights of the studio play Embers at Haworth mark its last performances at the San Marino Studio Theatre tonight and Saturday. The Bronte themed drama stars Sue Baldwin, Aura Hoffman and Elisabeth Drake as the Bronte sisters with a strong supporting cast and Frances Cooper directing. Readings for the next San Marino Studio Theatre show are set for Sunday March 21 at 7 30 with opening night scheduled for April 21.

Whittier College faculty and students visited the Huntington Library on Wednesday as part of a shared program. Over 400 attendees toured galleries and heard guides explain art history literature and botany while Dr Max Farrand welcomed the group. The strongest focus was a Science and the New World exhibit from 1526 to 1800 prepared by Dr Theodore Hornberger of Michigan.

William Rankin Dies After Heroic Rescue Incident
William Henry Rankin of Cumberland Road died Sunday from burns and heart trouble after saving a Mexican coworker during a March explosion at the Morris P. Kirk factory in Los Angeles. Rankin, Vanderbilt graduate and San Marino resident, leaves widow Mary Kirk Rankin and son William H. Rankin Jr., plus siblings.
