Arrests After Safe Way Produce theftWatch
John D. Copley 16 and D S Copley 34 of Alhambra were arrested by Officers Archer and Montgomery after a hours long Safe Watch in the early morning of March 11. They were charged with stealing produce deposited in front of the Safe Way store. Both were booked, with D Copley pleading guilty before Judge Northrup. John D Copley was sent to juvenile hall.

Fire damages Essex coupe in garage on Monterey road
A fire of undetermined origin destroyed an Essex coupe in the garage of H. F. Batchelor at 2785 Monterey road shortly after midnight Wednesday. Firemen under Chief C. C. Copley saved another car and the garage building despite a sizeable early blaze. Mrs Batchelor alerted the fire crew, delaying the call by a minute.
