At the City Council meeting the San Marino City Club announced a 1500 gift to purchase CPR equipment for the San Marino Fire Department and training materials for schools to spread CPR skills among residents. The donation supported the Red Cross branch serving San Marino and followed audience comments on animal regulation.
San Marino High School Frosh-Soph One Acts cast for March 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. in the Little Theater. Tickets $1.50 at school or “Once Upon A Playground.” Casts include Kathy Gillaspie Concetta Halstead Cathy Fischer Laurie Rossiter Kim Garner Tracy Smith Marie Bell Michele Patzakis Rick Jalichandra Scott Withrow in Once Upon A Playground directed by Chuck Hand.
The Southern California Veterinary Medical Association urges parents not to give live rabbits chicks and ducklings as Easter gifts. The practice has caused thousands of these pets to die or be destroyed shortly after Easter, underscoring welfare concerns in homes.
The Board of Trustees of the California Institute of Technology appoints Dr. Marvin L Goldberger as president. Announcement by R Stanton Avery states Goldberger, 55, will assume duties on July 4 1978. He is Henry Professor of Physics at Princeton and former chairman of its physics department. He is NAS member and Fellow and serves as vice president elect.
The San Marino Chamber of Commerce named Marion Rogers and Glen Simjian, both juniors at San Marino High School, as non voting student representatives to one year terms on February 1. They were favored for exposure to business, economics and commercial classes and to connect with the local business community. The board seeks fresh ideas while by law only voting directors require election.
Weather service predicts variable cloudiness today through the weekend with cooler temperatures. Highs near 70 and overnight lows in the mid to upper 40s. Forecast shows near 63 on Wednesday, 42 on Friday, and 71 on Tuesday.

Representative John H Rousselot and fellow treaty opponents warned at a Washington press briefing that if the House cannot vote on US property transfers in the Canal Zone before Senate ratification they will block treaty implementation. The group cited a House resolution with co signers and pledged support from private councils The briefing drew Senators Goldwater Laxalt and Curtis and Representatives Hansen Biaggi Dornan and Bauman among others, noting the Armed Services Committee has gone on record.
A public note reports surveys showing 70 percent of Americans favor a House vote on treaties regarding disposal of military properties in the territories cited. Opponents argue the House should also vote on a constitutional provision granting Congress power to regulate United States property.

New dog licenses due April 1 1978. Rabies clinic at City Hall Thursday evening April 1978 from 7 30 to 6 30 pm sponsored by Veterinary Medical Association vaccination $2 per animal if rabies vaccination expires before March 31 1979 renewal fee required. Licenses available at clinic or City Hall Monday to Friday 8 30 am to 5 pm or by mail with renewal notice and fees.
