Recreation Department Strengthens San Marino Playgrounds
The San Marino Playground Commission has appointed a full time supervisor, Ray Bryce, and added Walter Lipke to boost the recreation program. Evening activities light the tennis courts, badminton and camera clubs meet weekly, and a fathers vs sons baseball tradition thrives. The group, run by E C Neher and others, reports an 11 of 13 win record for the older boys basketball team and strong results from eighth grade A team.

City Council Approves New Post Office Building Unit
San Marino City Council approved a one story reinforced concrete building at 2170 Huntington Drive. Ralph Vanderhoof contracted by A L Gotterdam to construct the Mediterranean style post office facility adjoining Security First National Bank. The 80 foot front will house five units with parking behind the building and at the bank. completion is planned for June.

Tuesday Robberies Citywide Spark Police Alert
Two robberies within hours sparked a police alert. A jewelry shop theft on Huntington Drive involved a 28 year old suspect who used a fake sale to steal a Hamilton watch valued at 55 dollars. A second hold up near Bank of America in Arcadia saw a medium gray dressed man flee with four thousand dollars in a light green Packard.

San Marino Midgets First Unit in National Organization
The Junior Midgets of America formerly San Marino Midgets drew a large crowd for a notable show at the new San Gabriel boulevard track. Jim McDonald and Raymond Fageol dueled wheel to wheel in the trophy dash, with McDonald taking the trophy after an infield spin. Fageol loaned his car to him for the rest of the day. Sonny Alt won Class B in his first big race, Raymond Fageol won the Class A trophy, and Ace Weber secured the Tupman trophy after a close finish with brother David. San Marino Garden Club welcomed Hugh Evans of Reeves Nursery Santa Monica to a meeting at Mrs. L Ivey’s home.
