Former City Clerk Harvey Joyce Dies at 85 in Pasadena
Private funeral services for Harvey Joyce 85 of Pasadena were held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Joyce died in Los Angeles on March 3 and served as city clerk of San Marino from 1910 to 1935. He was born in San Antonio Texas and lived in the Pasadena San Marino area for 50 years. He is survived by nephew William H Joyce Jr of Pasadena.

Former Resident A J Frith Dies After Long LIFE in Southland
Arthur J. Frith 85, longtime Los Angeles insurance executive and horticulture enthusiast, died after a short illness in Fort Jones, California. He lived in San Marino for years at 635 Winston Avenue and built a noted rose garden, camellias, and orchids. He leaves wife Mary Frith. Funeral services were held in Fort Jones yesterday at 2 p.m.

Auto Hit Twice In One Day In Altadena
L D Olmsted of Altadena had his car struck twice in one day near Los Robles. An Edison truck rear ended the vehicle at 10 43 am and a second crash occurred at 7 40 pm when a car driven by Herbert Weil of Sierra Madre collided with the same vehicle. Both drivers blamed opposing traffic.

School approves St Louis trip for music supervisor
The Board of Education voted to fund Mrs. Lucille F. Wood to attend a music convention in St. Louis April 13 to 18. They also approved high school gym use for CIF playoff games with administrator approval, and the purchase of fire extinguishers for district buildings at an estimated 700 to 800 dollars. Road projects proceed with repaving and resurfacing planned on several streets, using the 1955 56 budget and slated for completion by July 1.

San Marino Fire Department logged thirteen February fires including six residential blazes and one building contents fire, with total damage $2875 bringing yearly city losses to $4353. A daytime burglary at the San Grinsfelder home on Bedford Road netted over $100 in liquor and a second break in at the L W Odell residence on Oakwood Drive yielded $10 in change. Both homes were ransacked during daylight hours last week.
