The Los Angeles area moves to remove diseased trees with unanimous council support. William M Hertrich named to oversee action, with property owners contacted to salvage wood and reduce costs. About 6500 such trees exist, 3000 in one orchard, creating jobs and supporting a broader regional cleanup ahead of the Olympic Games.
A rare Friday night operetta performed by the Girls' Glee Club under director Mrs Lillian Haughton at the Henry E Huntington School. The annual show centers on the Toymaker theme with all participants fully engaged.
The City Club holds its regular monthly dinner next Tuesday at the Henry E Huntington School cafeteria chaired by Chesney W. Carver. Howard Swan leads a songfest with two solos, Everett Tyler presents a different program, and Harry Karft of Western Air Express speaks on Aviation in 1932.
