Story hour in San Marino Library draws young listeners
Beverly Saunders leads Friday morning tales for children ages two and a half to five. An animated world of talking animals and adventures fills the San Marino Public Library as youngsters gather in a semi circle at 10 30 a m. Mothers stay nearby as stories unfold and pictures illustrate the make believe world where kindness and imagination reign.

Barlow Leads Fraternity Drive to 100 Percent Pledge
Bill Barlow son of Mr and Mrs Howard C Barlow of Ardmore road proved his worth as a solicitor this past week at Washington State College where he is a student. He chaired the Community Chest drive for Alpha Gamma Rho and the fraternity became the first to turn in full 100 percent to the campus chest.

E J Callister Dies At Home In Los Angeles Area
E J Callister vice president and assistant secretary of Security First National Bank died of a heart attack at his home on Melville Drive Saturday evening. He leaves a widow Helen and three children, plus three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held in South Pasadena with private burial. A native of Salt Lake City he moved to Los Angeles in 1928 and spent 27 years with the bank in real estate loan and legal work.

Ann McReynolds of San Marino will defend her SPAAAU 200 yard backstroke title at the Pasadena Athletic Club from March 18 to 19. She won the championship last year, defeating teammate Jo Anne Nootbarr, and is coached by Bud Lyndon who says she could be one of the youngest swimmers to represent America in Melbourne in 1956.

San Marino's recreation department offers afterschool baseball fundamentals for fifth to eighth graders at Huntington Carver and Del Mar schools. Football Seats Rental Okayed For HS Field
San Marino Board of Education approved renting 4120 temporary metal seats for one year at the high school football field. Seats, 1162 north and 2500 south, cost 4327 with gate receipts expected to cover about 3000. Permanent bleachers with rest rooms and visiting locker rooms would follow if a 25 cent tax levy increase is approved in April.

Out-of-District Students Denied by School Board
Marine Board of Education members Tuesday rejected plans by outsiders to enroll their children in district schools. High School Principal Walter Dingus sought action on many applications from students residing outside the district, but the board ruled not to accept any out-of-district pupils for the coming year.

Fire Chief Arthur P. Hughes reports eleven February fire calls with total loss of 1094.75, boosting year to date to 21 calls. Incidents included five residence blazes and one mercantile, plus three for contents, two for autos and misc. Inspections reach 233 this year. last year at this time loss was 45575. Firemen logged 35 schooling hours, 45 drill hours, and 24 special details with six man-days lost to sickness.
