Ground was broken for the second and third units of the San Marino Community Church on Sunday March 6 at 10 45 am with 700 members present. J Bert Easley spoke on the churchs eight year growth while others from the church school and building committee participated in the ceremony. Steed Brothers of Alhambra serve as contractors with a 280 day completion target.

Thomas Elected To Head San Marino Business Group
George M. Thomas was elected president of the San Marino Business and Professional Association at the organization meeting Tuesday night at Joy's Inn. Tom Beal and David Fiscus were named vice-president and secretary treasurer, with a unanimous membership vote. The new group, patterned after a previous organization, set nine directors from four districts and approved by-laws. A committee to study transportation will be formed, dues set at $25 annual and $2 monthly, payable quarterly to treasurer David Fiscus.

Born in Marietta Ohio she lived in Kansas and Kansas City before moving to San Gabriel nearly five years ago. Too Many Locks Foil Burglar at Huntington Drive Store
A burglar failed to enter a Huntington Drive shop last Sunday night despite breaking a rear door glass and using a pinch-bar. Police noted the interior locks and wire mesh proved too numerous, causing the thief to abandon the entry attempt.
