The Tribune celebrates its first anniversary and fifty second issue, noting strong advertiser support and rising paid circulation. It highlights community service, unbiased coverage of local life, and upcoming ability to publish legal notices from city government and schools under state law.
Twelve boys from Troop 2 San Marino led by Scoutmaster Carroll Holt hiked to Switzer's Camp under a clear night and two earned astronomy merit badge tests. They returned after 9 pm following an afternoon trek. An election and a March 16 parents night stunt are planned by Monrovia and nearby scouts.
Henry E Huntington Library and Art Gallery designated February 27 as Founder's Day. Trustees, staff, grounds crew, and Huntington family gathered in the main hall for simple exercises. Brief addresses honored the founder and his generosity, with remarks by Dr. Pritchett, Dr. Farrand, and Leslie Bliss.
San Marino grammar school students enter county health department contests. Eighth grade includes essays on the relations of the county health department to children and three upper grades enter posters on care of teeth. Last year Virginia Bell earned an honorable mention in the essay and Margaret Houghton and Gertrude Kley earned poster honors.
San Marino Boy Scout troops 1 and 2 were well represented at a Pasadena court of honor held at the Elks Clubhouse. Awards include Second Class badges for Raymond Courtney and Bill Hull. First Class badges for Carl Huff and John McDonald. and merit badges in leathercraft pathfinding handiwork wood carving seamanship public health and more for Scouts Austin Hurley Ralph Loring Richard Loring Charles Matthews Boardman Reed and Harry Teeple.
