San Marino voters heard that the City Council will not pursue a second fire station for now. The panel also voted to vacate its chambers for space needs and to meet at the Public Library Auditorium while a building plan study proceeds.

Authorities urge proper disposal via police or fire departments and banning unsupervised access.
At the San Marino Area Court of Honor at Huntington School four Eagle awards went to Bill Arnold Troop 352 Ken Ables Troop 355 Peter DeSimone Troop 355 and John Wilson Troop 356. Life Scout pins were presented to Bruce Compton Ken McKay Rick Mittler Aspell and Steven Sandland. Star Scout pins were awarded to Charles Barringer Brad Witmer Bill Crosby Jim Hager Don Ross Kim Biles and Joe Hammond.
Operation Workday, co sponsored by the Omegas and the PTA, will be held on Wednesday March 13. AN students who signed up for a job will work for San Marino residents. They report at 2 p.m. and work until finished to raise money for the High School Scholarship. Past years saw about 1,000 students work and $2,500 donated.
February 1963 postal receipts at the San Marino Branch Post Office totaled $22,785.46, per superintendent George Oremus. The prior February 1962 receipts stood at $18,866.78.
Boys must register in the Little League area where they live to be eligible. East of San Marino avenue between Huntington drive and Longden are Sunnyslope area and cannot play in San Marino. Final Sunnyslope registration occurred February 23 at Broadway field. San Marino registration set for March 9 at Huntington School.
Laguna five defeated the Titans 58 to 47 ending their season. Ron Lutz led Laguna with 36 points while Phil Anderson grabbed 23 rebounds. Titan Ron Walker added 13 rebounds and 9 points as Pat Tuohy led San Marino scoring with 14. Over 725 San Marino fans attended and KWIZ radio aired a taped re-broadcast.
A burglary at Péter J. Sbic ca home 2895 Lorain road netted about 500 in cash while the residents dined out. A second break in at Ralph D. Lavendale 804 Sierra Madre boulevard yielded two silver dollars with a note urging residents to lock doors.
The San Marino Unified School District will ask voters in spring to approve a 45 cent ad valorem tax increase. The board plans the measure for May and says the higher rate will fund a continued strong educational program.
Kenneth T. Norris of Avon dale road elected to USC Board of Trustees. He chairs the USC School of Medicine Board of Councillors and led a $6,000,000 fund drive for med campus expansion including four new buildings planned within five years.
Trojan football coach John McKay will speak to San Marino Post 239 of the American Legion next Wednesday March 13 at Wissler's Restaurant San Gabriel. Dinner at 7 program at 8 invite eligible members call Har o Erdman before March 11.
Walter F. Philippi of 1710 Valley Boulevard Alhambra suffered a deep forehead laceration last week. The Marine Police Department said he was taken to San Gabriel Community Hospital for treatment.
SMHS announces the second annual American Field Service Day set for March 12. Fifteen AFS students from nearby high schools will visit, attend classes with hosts from the International Relations Club, and Susi Kachek and Renato Sandi will discuss their home countries and the AFS program at an assembly.

President Adam Bennion and Vice President LeRoy Sanders Jr. of the San Marino Board of Education will run without opponents in the April 16 election. Both seek a second term after the March 1 filing deadline.
A famous film The Red Shoes will be shown at the library on Tuesday March 12 at 7 30 p m. The Technicolor drama won three Academy Awards and will be screened with program notes and related materials.
