City Clerk W W Dundore said 8467 residents are registered and eligible to vote in the combined school and city election, to be held at six precincts instead of the usual 33. Voters face a 75 cent levy increase per $190 valuation and a $60,000 transfer of storm drain bonds to the general fund. Absentee ballots available March 22 and must be received by April 17. Committees aim for a large turnout.

Junior Red Cross Seeks New Members In Schools
The American Junior Red Cross membership drive opens in San Marino schools Monday. Enrollment spans public private and parochial schools with 22 million youths last year. Elementary and secondary students join in service programs filling gift boxes and school chests for overseas shipment. Eight hundred gift boxes and two chests of medical supplies have been sent this year made by wood shop students and filled by high school students.
Cherstrom Shines At Junior Olympics Track Meet
Corey Cherstrom 11 won six first place ribbons and a special green award at the Junior Olympics Open Track and Field meet in Lacy Park. The event, organized by Phil Roulac and judged by AAU official Alex Petrie, featured nine events for boys his age. Cherstrom won the 50 yard hurdles 50 yard dash 100 yard dash broad jump and javelin with top marks in several finals.

Delegates from South Pasadena San Marino YMCA Model Legislature in Sacramento returned after three days of activity. The Volunteer Unionism bill 113 sought to bar refusing work due to labor union membership.
