The Administration of the new Committee of 100 invites San Marino residents to a public meeting at the San Marino School auditorium on March 21. Clyde Holley, president, announces representatives from all San Marino organizations will attend. the committee will include three San Marino members and extra civic leaders. The group will discuss financing, methods, and oversight of the five point recreational plan.
The San Marino Garden Club meets Tuesday at Mrs. Roy Ensign's home 2047 Courtland Ave. Roy F. Ekamp, a Wis University graduate, speaks on shade and ornamental trees. Azalea history and propagation discussed by Mrs. W. Herrick. Members share flowers for Pasadena Regional Hospital and arrange plant exchange. contact Mrs. Cronshey by March 7.

The Bekins case against the City of San Marino and officials will be tried before Judge Henry M. Willis in Los Angeles City Hall on March 8 at 9:30. The action stems from a zone variance denial by the city council on January 9, with planning commission notes and furniture storage use discussed February 29. Counsel for Bekins includes Daniel el P. Bryant and Chase. city special counsel is Cruik Shank Brooke Dunlap and Ross.
San Marino Kiwanis plans a charter night at Pasadena Masonic Temple on Saturday March 9 at 7 o clock with dinner for about 300 guests. Mrs. Rebecca Madison Lang, lifelong resident of the United States with deep ties to Moncton Canada, died Sunday March 3. Survived by a niece in San Marino a Los Angeles sister two half sisters and other relatives. Funeral services were held March 6 at the Little Stone Church of Turner Stevens and Turner Alhambra with interment in Waltham Massachusetts.
San Marino Rotary Club will hear Hugh Matier of Union Oil Company discuss Iran the Buffer State. The talk comes amid current developments in Iran and Matier’s prior popularity with the club. Wallace McAfee leads this week's program.
Miss Muriel Hampton Arroyo Seco School Pasadena will discuss Impressions of Post-war Education Plans in Britain at the Valentine PTA meeting Tuesday March 12 at Huntington School auditorium. The talk is under the British Ministry of Information with Ms Hampton and three other U.S. educators visiting UK schools. Hostesses and student performers from local fourth grades will provide a program followed by tea and optional child care with refreshments.
First initiatory degree for San Marino DeMolay Chapter will be held March 13 at Alhambra Masonic Lodge 130 West Main. F D Sereno Chapter DeMolary in charge of degree work. Eligible youths with petition and initiation fee urged to attend and bring petition if not yet submitted.
Edna Stearns Dayton will address the current events and literature guild of the San Marino Woman's Club at 2 pm on Wednesday March 13. The speaker will review current events and present synopses of new fiction and non fiction books, drawing on her acting talent to bring reviews to life.
A 19 member citizens committee was named to work with the Community Council to gather info on recreation facilities and standards for public school nurses were discussed to inform parent-teacher members. PTA membership rose by 263, and a welfare clothing drive shipped 30 000 articles with city and school staff aiding. Elections for council officers and a district convention are planned. last day to register for the May 17 school board election is April 6.
The San Marino City School District asks voters to decide a $450,000 school bond on Tuesday March 12. Polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Huntin Place in the PTA rooms. The issue is described as a major concern for the community.

Dr. Arthur Coons will address the Oneonta Club at 6 30 p m on Monday March 11. The program features music by the Cauldron Singers of Pasadena and a talk on Japanese Reparations and Economic Reconstruction in Eastern Asia. Dr Coons is president of Occidental College and adviser to the reparations committee to Japan.
Claude B. Davis of 2764 Fleur drive died suddenly at his home Monday night from a heart attack. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. at Turnes and Stevens chapel with Rev. William Cowans and South Pasadena Lodge No. 367 F and A M in charge. Entombment follows at Mountain View Memorial. Davis was manager of the Swift and Company refiners at Vernon. He belonged to the Episcopal Church Sons of the American Revolution Al Malaikah Shrine South Pasadena Lodge F and A M and the California Bar Association. Surviving are his wife Maud S. Davis, a sister G G Cooley, and two brothers E B Davis and F N Davis.

Jones of Security First National Bank discussing General Activities of Real Estate and Real Estate Loans. Membership applications will be considered after the address.
Wilbur C. Thomas, longtime extension engineer for Southern California Telephone Co, died unexpectedly last Wednesday at his home 1276 Lorain Rd. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday at Turner Stevens Turner chapel in Alhambra with Dr. Henry David Gray officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier. Born Georgetown, Colorado, May 8, 1897, he spent his youth near local mining camps before college where he won two scholarships.
